At this point in time, we can pretty reliably say that Gather would not exist if it were not for the Bloomington Handmade Market, nor would the Bloomington Handmade Market exist if it weren't for Gather. We're symbiotic mechanisms that feed off each other and create a vortex of amazing indie handmade work in the center of downtown Bloomington. If you've not been into Gather yet, go - no RUN and check out the nearly 200 individual artists who are making a living selling their work through venues like Gather (and Bloomington Handmade Market). At Gather you can find new items for sale nearly every day, sent in by artists who are often alums of the Handmade Market or current vendors, or vendors to be. They host a Gallery Walk opening reception EVERY First Friday, they host a multitude of classes and workshops throughout the year as well as hosting other events and supporting the downtown businesses as part of downtown Bloomington. Coming up - be sure to visit Gather and MANY other downtown merchants for the Downtown Halloween Trick or Treat Trail on October 30th from 5-8pm. You can park for free, after 6pm in the 4th Street Parking Garage and step inside Fountain Square Mall to start your tour and treating. A listing of participating merchants and attractions will be available on posters and fliers at each location - and of course, Gather is one. Happy Halloween!!
