We say bagel, you say Bloomington Bagel Company. In Bloomington, that’s ‘nuff said. Located at 113 N. Dunn St, BBC is conveniently located downtown, a hop, skip and a jump from the IU campus. Their location isn’t the only thing that contributes to their popularity: these bagels, based on kosher recipes from New York, are heavenly. BBC makes their goods from scratch using real ingredients (local ones when possible), boiled and baked fresh daily. In addition to these delicious dough creations, BBC also has a variety of tasty drinks, bagelwichs, and other baked goods. Do yourself a favor and stop by today. Like right now. Thanks to BBC for providing breakfast for our vendors on the day of our event! Nothing like a delicious breakfast to kick off a successful craft show day.

The Friends of Art Bookshop is tucked away in IU’s School of Fine Arts building, off the beaten path for many students and campus visitors. However, it should not be overlooked! This store carries a wide variety of goods (such as stationary, art books, posters, and snacks from Bloomington Bagel Company) that can keep you browsing and happy for hours. Plus, your purchase goes towards supporting the arts: the bookshop is a non-profit organization that uses its profits to fund scholarships and research projects for SoFA students, and support the Grunwald Gallery and Fine Arts library. Friends of Art memberships also include a 10% discount on almost everything in the Bookshop. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal! Chances are you’ll find something unique at the Homespun: Modern Handmade boutique, which carries products from over 200 artists, both local and from across the U.S. and Canada. Located on the east side of Indianapolis, Homespun is dedicated to bringing handmade goods created with traditional methods to today’s audiences.
And if that isn't enough, the shop super crew is also responsible for the INDIEana Handicraft Exchange craft fair. Though their large summer event has already taken place, the group is putting together two mini shows, one in October and one in December, to satiate your handmade good needs. Details on the mini shows are provided on the INDIEana Handicraft Exchange website and Facebook page. The options in Bloomington for local art and craft supplies are slim and noteably Big Box, but Adrienne and Jake, local crafters, have something different in mind. They are opening Bloomington Craft Supplies on west Kirkwood just a few blocks from Bloomington's downtown business district, just across the street from Time Flies Antique Gallery at the end of 'arts row'. No longer will have you have to make the trek to the far east or far west side in Bloomington to find those craft goods your weekend (or lifetime) project desires. Now it's just a simple jaunt (a walk even) downtown to Bloomington Craft Supplies! Bloomington Craft Supplies will celebrate its GRAND OPENING next Saturday, November 17 from 3-8pm at their downtown location. Expect snacks, crafting supplies, and lots of FUN!! They will offer needle arts, jewelry, sewing/quilting notions, wood crafts, basic art, kids crafts, paper crafts, mesh ribbon, clay, and various other craft supplies. They also hope to soon be carrying soap/candle making, metal, fabric, glass, printmaking, stamps, and everything else craft related! |
