At this point in time, we can pretty reliably say that Gather would not exist if it were not for the Bloomington Handmade Market, nor would the Bloomington Handmade Market exist if it weren't for Gather. If you've not been into Gather yet, go - no RUN and check out the nearly 200 individual artists who are making a living selling their work through venues like Gather (and Bloomington Handmade Market). At Gather you can find new items for sale nearly every day, sent in by artists who are often alums of the Handmade Market or current vendors, or vendors to be. They host a Gallery Walk opening reception EVERY First Friday, they host a multitude of classes and workshops throughout the year as well as hosting other events and supporting the downtown businesses as part of downtown Bloomington. 

Coming up - be sure to visit Gather and MANY other downtown merchants for the Downtown Halloween Trick or Treat Trail on October 30th from 5-8pm. You can park for free, after 6pm in the 4th Street Parking Garage and step inside Fountain Square Mall to start your tour and treating. A listing of participating merchants and attractions will be available on posters and fliers at each location - and of course, Gather is one.

This year BHM is so excited to have media sponsorship provided by WFHB!! WFHB is Live, Local, Community Radio- right outside our back door actually (well, behind Gather that is). It's always SO exciting to partner with local like-minded businesses to get the word out about the Market. WFHB is Indiana's FIRST community radio station and has been volunteer-powered and listener-supported since 1993. 

You can find such greats as the Firehouse Follies, The Daily Local News as well as podcasts like BloomingOUT and Activate. It all points back to the mission of WFHB : "WFHB exists to provide an open community forum for the exchange and discussion of ideas and issues, and to celebrate and increase the local cultural diversity."

BEAD is Bloomington's premiere arts and entertainment destination located in the heart of downtown. And each year, we are delighted to be part of BEAD. The most amazing things happen in BEAD - and we're here to share a few of them happening this month!

• Ivy Tech Waldron Arts Center currently has an Open Call for Artists looking to show their work in one of many galleries that the Waldron has to offer.
• Visit Bloomington has Tourism week coming up May 18-22 and currently has Tourism Awards open for voting!

• Cardinal Stage is promoting Junie B Jones for the next three weeks!
• A Fair of the Arts - the downtown Farmer's Market Art Fair that happens the second Saturday every month May-October will begin next month on May 9, 9am-1pm!

• Gather will be hosting Sally Harless for their May opening, the very night before BHM!
